The band shows your bottle hasn't been opened, and the inner plug stops leaks in transit.
Our fragrance oils now come in a new aluminium bottle with a screw cap, a tamper-evident band and a sealed neck. It keeps your oil fresh, protected and safe in transit, and it takes about a minute to open once you know how.
This guide walks you through it step by step, with our very own Duncan showing you how in the video below.
Grab two everyday tools and find a clear, flat surface.
- Needle-nose pliers to grip and peel away the tamper-evident band
- Small pointed scissors to lever out the inner plug
- Kitchen roll nearby, just in case of drips
A few safety basics:
- Work on a stable, wipeable surface away from children and pets.
- Keep the bottle upright the whole time.
- Fragrance oils can irritate skin and eyes. Wear gloves if you have them, and wash your hands afterwards.
- Don't use your fingernails or teeth on the band. The pliers do the hard work.
- Don't hold the bottle in the air while removing the plug. Rest it on the table so a slip can't reach your hand.
- Point sharp tools away from you and keep your free hand below the tip.
- Wipe any drips straight away. Fragrance oil can mark some surfaces and finishes.
- Store upright, cap on, out of direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

We don't recommend it. Pliers and scissors give you control to and keep your fingers clear. This helps avoid any spills or injury.
Wash it off with soap and water. If irritation continues, seek medical advice.
